A Debt Management Plan is an informal agreement between you (individuals or sole traders) and your creditors to repay any unsecured loans, credit cards, overdrafts, catalogue etc.
It allows you to get back on track by making one, single affordable monthly payment until a more permanent solution can be established i.e. your income increases or you have access to a large cash sum etc..
If a Debt Management plan is established as being the most appropriate debt solution, we would, as part of our service to you, establish what you can afford each month. We would then make formal contact with each of your creditors and make a proportionate payment every month to each of them from the single payment you pay to us.
There are a number of issues that we take into account before submitting a proposal to your creditors which significantly increases the chance of it being accepted.
Our financial review service is used to establish if a debt management plan is suitable for your circumstances. This is provided free of charge and is completely confidential.
Lower payments.
Your payment will be based on your disposable income once essential
outgoings such as rent, food etc are budgeted for. Certain other non-essential items
can be included as essential living expenses.
One payment
You make one single monthly payment which is proportioned out to
each your creditors. You will only pay what you can afford.
No need for creditors to contact you.
You can inform your creditors that we
are dealing with your debts and you may refer any correspondence from your creditors
to us.
Small levels of debt can be included.
The amount of debt can be relatively small
in a Debt Management Plan when compared to the minimum required by an IVA.
Flexibility.
If your financial circumstances change for the better or worse,
you may adjust payments in the debt management plan accordingly.
Interest and charges can be frozen.
Often, we can obtain agreement from your
creditors to stop additional interest and charges being added to the debt.
No need get involved in legal proceedings
As a debt management plan is an informal
agreement and not legally binding on either party, it therefore does not involve
the courts. Creditors may still register default notices against you, which will
show on your credit file.
Does not put your home at risk
Unlike a secured debt consolidation loan, you
do not run the risk of losing your home should you not be able to make payments.
